I did decide to take this photo with its subject being the old shack but I think I have to give a good portion of the credit of this shot to the amazing sunset. I had gone out to Brazos Bend State Park with the intention of snapping some shot of the sunset out there but the gate attendants had left for the day and it was cash entry from there on. I never have cash on me so I headed back home disheartened. But I decided to stop at this shack on the side of the road that I had shot the last time I was here. I had brought my tripod as anyone would for low light conditions but I forgot that I had removed the camera attachment, so my tripod was useless. One thing after another that night. But I don't give up easily, I just cranked the ISO up to around 400 and shot these hand held. My 5DMIII does better than most at high ISO and 500 is no issue.
This pano took me roughly three hours of post processing before it was to my liking. This is roughly 7 portrait oriented shots that are only about half HDR. I initially processed them in Photomatix then stitched them in Photoshop but I was far from happy with the result. I loved the sky but I disliked the grass and foreground as just as much. So I took the individual HDR frames and layered(in Photoshop) in some SOOC frames that had only minor Lightroom edits to them.
Click the photo to purchase a print, it looks great on metal. I should know, it's hanging on my wall right now.
